Raghu Raman is a veteran of over 2 decades of security experience and the CEO of the National Intelligence Grid, the new agency being set up by the Government of India to integrate & coordinate information inputs from various sources.

Career

During his 11 year stint with the armed forces, Raghu was in operations in Punjab battling terrorists, in the Siachen Glacier facing Pakistani troops, a UN Peace keeper and finally as an Instructor teaching tactics and leadership to officers in the prestigious School of Armored Warfare.

Raghu joined Mahindra & Mahindra in 1998. He has since had several stints in the group; first as the Coordinator for IT in Mahindra United World College, then as the CEO of FirstChoice, CEO MahindraSSG and finally as the CEO of Mahindra Defence Land Systems. In Dec 09 he was selected by the government to lead the NATGRID initiative.

Raghu Raman has been trained at the Indian Military Academy, Infantry School, School, of Armoured Warfare, Commando School, Siachen Base Camp and holds instructor grading in weapons, armament and missiles and tactics. Raman has also been trained in hacking (Foundstone), Competitive Intelligence (Fuld & Co) and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Systems Security Professional and a BS7799 lead auditor. He has been educated in Wharton and Kellog executive MBA programs.

Brian is a security professional with over 35 years experience in advising on and managing security across many disciplines. Brian served for 23 years in the British Army’s Intelligence Corps, serving as a security and intelligence operator in Europe, Northern Ireland, Central America and Hong Kong. On retiring from the Army, Brian established a security consultancy advising UK blue chip companies as well as local government and small and medium enterprises on all aspects of security risk management. In 1998 Brian joined Capital One Bank (Europe) to establish the security risk management function for the company’s international operations in UK, Spain, Italy, France, India, South Africa and China. After seven and a half years Brian left to join Qatar Museums Authority, again to establish a security risk management function for all the museums and assets of the Gulf State. In 2007 Brian joined Ross International managing oil and gas survey facilities in the Kurdistan region of Iraq before being invited to join Genpact as their Global Chief Security Officer in July 2009. Brian is a Chinese (Mandarin) speaker, a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a member of ASIS International, The Security Institute and the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Vishal Salvi, has seventeen years of industry experience having worked in Crompton Greaves, Development Credit Bank, Global Trust Bank, Standard Chartered Bank before taking on the role of Chief Information Security Officer & Senior Vice President at HDFC Bank. Prior to joining HDFC Bank, he has worked in Standard Chartered Bank for eleven years and played variety of roles in IT Service Delivery, Governance and Risk Management and Information Security. At HDFC Bank, Vishal heads the Information Security Group and responsible for driving Information Security strategy and its implementation across the Bank & its subsidiaries.

Mr. G.S. Baveja is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of 1970 batch with meritorious educational background, having more than 38 years of field experience to back with.

He joined Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) and worked there for about 12 years. While in BHEL he was predominantly engaged for construction, erection and commissioning of Thermal Power Plants at various locations in the country. This experience was very intense and accentuated towards site construction & assembly of thermal power plant equipments.

The various projects covered by him had a range of Power generating units from 30MW individual unit way back in 1971/72 to 500MW Unit in 1982. Meanwhile, for six months he underwent a training programme for Erection of large size Steam Turbine / Generator units at M/s KWU in West Germany.

Towards end 1982, he joined Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in Projects Department for execution of Captive Power Plant at its Refinery at Mahul, Mumbai. On successful completion of this project, he moved on to various other departments like “Engineering & Construction”, “Materials”, “Energy & Environment”, "Advisory Engineering", etc. in the Refinery.

This 14 years of experience in Refinery predominantly was project related i.e. handling various facets of projects in the Refinery. The projects handled by him were of varying complexities, being within the operating refinery. Many a challenging projects were executed, which could be tied up / hooked up with existing facilities only during major shutdown or turn- around of plants / units.

After 14 years of working in the Refinery, he moved as Head of Administration at the Corporate Office of BPCL. He looked after all administration related services & policy related matters of the Corporation. He was also looking after activities of Corporate Social Responsibility, Real Estate, Official Language Implementation, Territorial Army, and ‘General Security of Office & Residential Premises’ etc. While as “Administration Head” his responsibilities covered the construction of new housing / office complexes & renovation & revamp of existing facilities, at various Locations as per the need of the Corporation.

Lastly, he headed the Corporate Health, Safety, Security & Environment Entity of BPCL, in the rank of General Manager (Health, Safety, Security & Environment). As Head of HSSE entity, he was responsible for development of "Corporate Sustainability Report" for the Corporation. The Clean Development Mechanism Projects cell reported to him. The prime responsibility for this group was to get the specified projects registered from UNFCCC for Carbon Credits. He was also responsible for various submissions to outside agencies towards Safety, Security & Environment. During his tenure BPCL participated in "Carbon Disclosure Project". His passion for Water conservation could bring out a book titled “Water Harvesting" detailing the efforts undertaken by BPCL. His concern for training & development of the Staff & others connected with Occupational Health & Safety were evident from his continuous communications of new insights on the subject to all Role-holders in the Corporation.

Being In-Charge & focal point for “Security” in BPCL, with his active participation & support his team Member, Mr. DK Mane, developed a concept of “Security Assessment Score Card” for BPCL’s Marketing Locations in India, which was well received by the Locations. This is a tool to enthuse confidence in Staff at Locations about being Safe & Secured. Most Locations of LPG Bottling Plants have actually worked out the Score for their Location, based on this. With every passing day this concept is gaining internal popularity & strength.

His vast & varied experience in different fields & disciplines is an asset to him. His deliberations speak volumes about this trait of his personality. He is a keen observer & his simple oratory with anecdotes really makes complex issues be understood simply.

Mr. Baveja is presently working with a world renowned Norwegian based multinational company M/s Det Norske Veritas (DNV), as a Consultant, DNV Energy-India (Region Asia and Middle East), based in Mumbai.

Col Samir is a second generation Army Officer who is an alumnus of National Defense Academy, Khadakwasala, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and Defense Services Staff College, Wellington. He commanded 3 MADRAS, the Regiment which he was born, brought up and commissioned into.

He has extensive experience in frontline anti-terror operations in Jammu & Kashmir and in operations during the disturbed times in Punjab. The officer has served at frontline posts in Siachen Glacier as a young officer and subsequently was privileged to have commanded his Battalion on the Siachen Glacier.

Col Samir has served with the United Nations Mission in strife torn Congo and has been amongst the first frontline military observers to set the stage for establishment of the mission.

Views presented by him on strategic security matters related to defense of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and also anti-terror concerns in Jammu and Kashmir have been well received at the highest Policy making level of the Army.

The Officer has a balanced frontline experience especially related to counter terror operations and a keen understanding on security matters as they affect society at large.

On personal grounds, the Officer took premature retirement from Indian Army in 2007.

After attending a Management Program at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, the Officer joined Bajaj Auto Limited as Chief Security Officer where he continues to serve till this day.

Commissioned in the Bihar Regiment in 1975, Brig. Bhanu Sud held various staff and command assignments during 30 years of illustrious career in the Army. Changed over to the Corporate Sector in Dec 2005 by joining the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative (IFFCO).

During the service in the Army, he held prestigious assignments as Military Attaché in China (1994-1998), Commanding Officer of the prestigious Red Fort Ceremonial Battalion and The Army Guards at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Director Military Operations ( 2001-2004) and Commander of the largest and one of the most active and sensitive RR Sector in Jammu & Kashmir (2005) . Presently Corporate Sr. General Manager (Admin & Security) in the largest manufacturer and distributer of Fertilizer in the world, namely IFFCO.

In the field of industrial security Brig Sud was specially picked up & entrusted with the task of setting up for IFFCO, an effective security infrastructure and training of security manpower, required urgently due to the sudden withdrawal of the CISF from IFFCO Plants in December 2005. Today IFFCO model of Security based on private security personnel serves as a bench mark.

Currently responsible for management of security functions, development of policy & procedures on security aspects and ensuring their implementation across DLF’s commercial & retail complexes in the country.

Prior to joining the DLF in 2003, Col. Saikia was the Chief of Security for Asian Hotels Ltd. and was the pioneer for establishing the security set up in Hyatt Regency Kolkata, Mumbai & Park Hyatt Goa.

An Ex-NDA, he got commissioned to Indian Army in 1978. He was on deputation to MHA as a young Captain and saw action in Manipur & Nagaland. As a young major, he was an instructor in Indian Military Academy training fresh young technical Graduates to get commissioned to Indian Army.

A Black Cat commando himself, he had a privilege of being the second-in command for 51 Special Action Group (the Counter Terrorist Group) of NSG and also had the privilege of being in the SIT for 1993 Serial Blast in Mumbai.

He also saw action in HAZRATBAL SHRINE in Srinagar. He is a faculty member for International Institute of Security and Safety Management (IISSM).

Mr. Mane is Head, HSSE at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, India. His career is spanning over three decades firstly with HOCL Rasayani and now with BPCL, erstwhile Burmah Shell in various roles till date. Mr. Mane had the opportunity to handle assignments on projects, operations, supply & international Trade and presently HSE corporate assignment.
He was associated with major infrastructure projects from concept to commissioning during 1997 to 1999 and had a short stint as Chief Manager reporting to Director (Marketing) based at New Delhi. Mr. Mane has contributed as in-house faculty for operational, Safety, Workplace Security & Surveillance, workplace Human Error training and delivered sessions on construction site safety & behavior based safety at site.
He was responsible for developing and implementing “security assessment scorecard” which has set a benchmark in the Indian corporate security. Mr. Mane holds BE (Mech. Engg.), Diploma (Project Mgmt.) and PGD (HRD).
